Biographical notes

Christopher Buck is an assistant professor of religion at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and gained an MA degree at the University of Calgary and a PhD at the University of Toronto. He is the author of Paradise and Paradigm: Key Symbols in Persian Christianity and the Bahá'í Faith (Albany: State University of New York Press, 1999), and Symbol and Secret: Qur'an Commentary in Bahá'u'lláh's Kitáb-i-Íqán (Los Angeles: Kalimat Press, 1995), reviewed by Frank Lewis in The Bahá'í Studies Review volume 6, 1996.

Christian Cannuyer is a professor of religious history at the Catholic University of Lille, and he is president of the Belgian Society for Oriental studies. His interest in the academic study of the Bahá'í Faith is reflected in a number of publications including Les Bahá'ís: Peuple de la Triple Unité (Brepols, 1987).

William Collins has been the chief of the cataloguing division at the copyright office of the Library of Congress since 1991, prior to which he was the director of the Bahá'í world centre library for thirteen years. He is the author of a number of articles, as well as Bibliography of English-Language Works on the Bábí and Bahá'í Faiths, 1844-1985 (George Ronald, 1990).

Seena Fazel is a clinical research fellow in psychiatry at the University of Oxford.

Stephen R. Friberg is a senior research scientist at NTT Basic Research Labs near Tokyo, Japan. He has written more than 50 articles in scientific journals, and he is a founding member of the Association for Bahá'í Studies in Japan.

Erin Murphy Graham is studying for a master's degree in comparative and international education at Oxford University. She has an undergraduate degree from Tufts University and has pursued interests in female education in developing countries and in Latin American education as a visiting student at Universidad Nur, Bolivia.

Graham Hassall directs the Asia-Pacific Program at the centre for comparative constitutional studies at the University of Melbourne. He is a member of the teaching faculties at Landegg Academy, Switzerland, and at the Yerrinbool Centre of Learning, Australia.

Franklin Lewis is assistant professor at Emory University, where he teaches Persian language and literature and Iranian religions.

Simon Mawhinney was born in County Down, Ireland, and graduated in music from Oxford University. He is currently a postgraduate student of composition at the University of York, and he has recently composed a large piano trio in memory of a recent Bahá'í martyr, Ruhu'llah Rowhani.

David Piff gained a master's degree in history from Western Washington University and a PhD in Sociology of Religion from the University of Copenhagen. He is presently serving in the archives office of the Bahá'í world centre.

Sholeh A. Quinn is an assistant professor of history at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she specialises in Safavid Iran.

Rod Rastan gained an LLM degree in public international law from Nottingham University. He has worked at the Yugoslav War Crimes Tribunal and is currently serving on UN human rights field operations.

Felicity Rawlings has recently completed a PhD at the Institute of Education, University of London. She works as a freelance editor and a research officer for a teacher education project in Mozambique.

Shamim Razavi gained a law degree at Exeter College, Oxford University. He has reviewed films, music, and books for student newspapers at Oxford and York universities.

Milan Voykovic was born in New Zealand and educated in Australia. He gained a PhD in history from the University of New South Wales, and he has taught European history and international relations at Western Sydney and Macquarie universities.

Robert Weinberg is a professional radio producer and journalist who has worked with both the BBC and independent radio in the United Kingdom. His biography of Ethel Jenner Rosenberg was published by George Ronald in 1995, and he is currently writing biographies on Lady Blomfield and Bernard Leach.
