Re: Kalimat Press ?

While shopping at Kalimat, keep an eye out for "things that question the fundamentals of the Faith." I would be surprised if you were to find anything.

House of Justice letter on international and home-front pioneering

The Universal House of Justice has released a letter on the role of international and home-front pioneering in the 5-year Plan that has just begun. It begins by saying, “it is our hope that the friends will continue to consider entering the international arena, whenever their circumstances allow.” I...

American NSA changes ruling on voting in primaries

A letter issued by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States on April 5 corrects its previous ruling of March 8, which stated, “nor should we, even as an ‘independent,’ vote in primaries — the purpose of which is to elect delegates to political conventions.” This ruling has...

Re: Is the UN or human rights work "political involvement"

Bahai participation in the UN and petitioning of its agencies is not in breach of the principle requiring Bahai institutions not to enter into politics. The UN (like many national governments) makes room for non-govermental agencies, and the Bahai International Community participates as one of these...

Re: Does the Qur'an contain historical errors?

"sister of Aaron" could be an idiom, meaning a Jewess, used to refer to her noble ancestry. Or as at least one hadith says, they called Mary in particular "sister of Aaron" because the historical sister of Aaron was called Mary. In the first explanation, "sister of Aaron&quo...

Changes to the Bahai calendar

On July 10, 2014, the Universal House of Justice announced three decisions regarding the Badi` (Bahai) calendar, which will affect the dates of Feasts and Holy Days. Naw Ruz will usually fall on March 20th, which means that all the Feast days will be one day earlier, and the births of the Bab and of...

Re: Husbands responsible for family's finances...?

No, I don't think those conclusions are at all warranted. Various laws of the Aqdas contain assumptions appropriate to the Middle East of the time: men go away on travels, wives stay home or travel with their husbands; men own the family home, wives do not have share; men have income, wives have to ...

Re: Husbands responsible for family's finances...?

The quotes seem to be elucidations from the House of Justice (which are changeable, may be wrong, and are not authoritative), rather than authoritative statements of Bahai teachings. If the UHJ was asked the same questions today, would it say the same thing? Would it matter? Only to the extent that ...

Bahai cemetery in Ahvaz sealed off

past two months, the Bahai cemetery in Ahvaz has been closed and the small road leading to it has been blocked by a barricade of pre-cast concrete panels. Thus far no official has been found who will admit responsibility. A month ago, the Bahais sought to bury a member of their community in the ceme...

The documentary “Light a Candle” (شمعی روشن کن) by Maziar Bahari ( مازیار بهاری) is the first to tell the history of Bahai community life in Iran. It tells of the Babis and Bahais who were tortured in the Qajar era, of the slanders and insinuations they suffered from ordinary people who, in the Pahl...

Re: Poetry Lives!

The tablet is apparently addressed to Louise R. Waite (who at that time was Louise R. Spencer), a Bahá'í poet and song writer, and refers to a hymn rather than a poem - or a poem written to be sung in a place of worship is also called a hymn. I have seen this tablet dated 1902 ( http://librivox.org/...

It's not from Abdu'l-Baha, as it is all over the web, usually sourced to "anonymous." It seems likely it is from Geoffrey Hodson, a theosophist lecturer

I have no difficulty in typing in Persian here. But if you do have difficulty, try making your text in another program such as Word, and then pasting the text in.
