Re: can a baha'i woman wear a head scarf?
Thank you so much Brett! The school is located in Dearborn, Michigan, which has the largest proportion of Arab Americans for a city it's size, and is also home to the largest Mosque in America. I have no doubt that many schools there adhere to a Muslim dress code, whether legally or not. But I belie...

can a baha'i woman wear a head scarf?
Hello everyone. Although I'm not a certified art teacher yet, I frequently browse job listings. I spotted an opening for a part-time art teacher that specified that Islamic dress code would be observed. (And women would be required to wear a head scarf) I am not sure that as a Baha'i, I would even g...

Re: engagement HELP
SIX other people?!?! I have no idea where this person got that from... . Perhaps she has more than 4 parents. I will be asking for consent from my mother, father, birthmother, and will likely have to try to contact my birthfather as well. Divorce could create this situation as well. Whether a "...

Re: The Age of Aquarius - Zeitgeist
I remember being very fascinated by that documentary when I first watched it a year ago. It has been a long time, so forgive me if my facts are incorrect, and it's late, so I apologize if this is incoherent :) In my personal opinion it is just a coincidence, and the astrological signs/ages/houses/wh...

Re: Idea for a website to prescribe quotes and prayers
I might be alone in this sentiment, but I quite enjoy my explorations of the Baha'i writings. And though some searches take a long time, I almost always find something that comforts me or addresses what I am feeling! I think we ultimately have to remember though that the authoritative writings are n...

Re: Tattoo
Thank you both! I had assumed they were allowed and I figure I must have done a search before I got my tattoo but an adult told me Baha'i's weren't allowed to get tattoo's, so I thought it best to turn to the writings.
I'll save these quotes and show them to our jr. youth group.

I can't for the life of me find any Baha'i Writings pertaining to tattoo's. I was asked if Baha'i's are allowed to get them, and realized that I don't really know the answer. Is this written about in the writings? Or is it up to personal choice?

Re: times when you KNOW you're being tested
I like this thread! And to answer, YES, there are times when I know I'm being tested. It never seems to end! Sometimes I pray at night and start to say "God, please take my troubles away," and then I pause and laugh and say "Ok, I know you can't take my troubles away, and I know you w...

Re: Marriage and Engagement
I'm adopted, but I have found my birthmother and though I am not engaged (or even dating) I thought about how I will have to get consent from her and my biological father. My adoption papers stated that my biological father is unknown, which is likely true. But since finding my birthmother I have no...

Re: Discovering Baha'i --- Questions
hello! I think it's wonderful that you are seeking God in your life. I have investigated truth for myself and it was a very long journey that involved reading much about all the world religions and contemplating their applications in my life. Though I was raised a Baha'i, I really wanted to learn a ...

Re: Being a Baha'i
I was raised both Catholic and Baha'i. Which to me is the best of both worlds First world being raised with the Baha'i teachings, and 2nd world being able to experience the Faith as a new believer when, after an independent investigation of truth I left Catholicism and spent 3 years learning about a...

Re: Why do Baha'i's misunderstand what "shun politics" means?
Alla-u-abha Keyvan! I agree that it is very important to understand the Baha'i writings about political involvement. In fact, it would be great if you or another friend could post them here. I would but they don't make Ocean Library for macs yet :) I'll try digging them up in the meantime though. Th...
