Buddhism, Gautama Buddha and the Baha'i Faith?

Hey all, Greetings! I was wondering - are there any good books or writings out there on the subject of Buddhism, the Buddha, and the Baha'i Faith? If so, could you please point me to them? I ask, because I recall hearing multiple times from multiple sources claims that the Baha'i Faith is compatible...

Re: Daily Baha'i activities for spiritual growth

Peter,

That is more of a general quality to have in life, as opposed to a specific practice to be carried out daily.

Re: Loving all of humanity?

Heya Peter, I find it interesting what you say about St. Peter and Ali. I was wondering - if Jesus and Mohammed both tagged them to lead their respective religions after their deaths, then how does this fit in with the Baha'i claim that Baha'u'llah was the only Manifestation of God that delineated a...

Re: Loving all of humanity?

Heya Brett,

I don't understand the Shoghi Effendi quote that you gave, in particular the part that you put in bold. Could you explain that to me? I have never before heard of the Baha'is talk about the importance of the Imamship or of Saint Peter.

Thanks, and I am wishing you all the best!

Daily Baha'i activities for spiritual growth

Hey all, I am trying to get clarity on what exactly are all of the required daily that Baha'is are to do each day to foster our spiritual growth. Based on the recent document that Brett posts entitled "The essential requisites for our spiritual growth" I was able to get a list of six such ...

Yes.. Similarly related, I noticed that President Obama has written an Op-Ed piece that was published around the world today calling for greater global economic cooperation among the different countries of the world - http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/24/ ... index.html

Re: Loving all of humanity?

Heya Peter, I'm delighted to see this about your interest in Nonviolent Communication (aka "NVC"). NVC has definitely made it possible for me to re-establish a relationship with the Baha'i Faith. If I do end up becoming a Baha'i again, it will be through me using NVC in such a way as to he...

Hey all, There is one thing that I wanted to share regarding this topic, it is something that has been very meaningful and helpful for me. It is a process called "Nonviolent Communication" and it is a tool used to help one develop compassion and understanding, both with others as well as w...

Re: Does the Obligatory Prayer have to be said out loud?

Heya, I don't know the answer to your question. I look forward to seeing what the answer is, since I too struggle with this same problem. One thing, however, which I would like to suggest to you right off the bat - how about you say the Obligatory Prayer very early in the morning, before other peopl...

Rudolph Steiner and the Baha'i Faith

Hey everyone, Does anyone here by any chance have any information about any connections between Rudolph Steiner and Anthroposophy with the Baha'i Faith? I ask, because Steiner was somewhat of a contemporary to Baha'u'llah (even moreso with Abdu'l Baha) and I wonder if any of them ever talked about e...

Dowries & related stuff

Hey all, I was wondering - could someone here please explain to me the whole Baha'i concept of having a "dowry"? This concept is something that is usually not talked about in the everyday world, and even in the Baha'i world I do not remember people talking about it. I was present for the w...

Re: Prayers/Fasting for "Not Offical" Baha'i

Heya Cat Lady, I appreciate reading your message here. Honesty and candor are things that I really enjoy. And given that I myself am "not officially" a Baha'i yet, I can relate to a lot of what you are saying here. For the past year or so I have felt this great desire to radically change m...

UHJ statements for the 41 Baha'i regional conferences

Hey all, Recently there have been a bunch of regional Baha'i conferences going on all over the world, 41 in total I believe. I am very curious about them, and am wondering what is going on at these conferences. More specifically, I am wondering what the Universal House of Justice statements that are...

Ayyám-i-Há

Hey everyone,

Ayyám-i-Há is coming up soon, and I am thinking about celebrating it. There are no Baha'is where I live, so I pretty much would be celebrating it surrounded by people who have no idea what it is. I was wondering - what all do you usually do to celebrate it?

Thanks!

I noticed that the distance & bearing to Bahji calculator requires that one knows one's latitude & longitude. I found an online latitude & longitude calculator that can help you in determining that:

The Baha'i Faith on Buddhism & Taoism?

Hey all, I was curious if anybody here can tell me some more about what is the official Baha'i Faith stance on Buddhism and Gautama Buddha, as well as on Taoism and Laozi. I know that Gautama Buddha is considered to be a Manifestation of God, but I do not know anything more than that. A lot of diffe...
