Re: Function of LSA Officers

Brett, thank you for the above quotes. I was in hope of finding guidance from the UHJ or the BWC, specific to officers serving on Assemblies.

Edited for the reason stated in the first post. It occurred to me that the community might be identified by my prior posts.

Function of LSA Officers

Can anyone point to any authoritative document or compilation about the actual functioning of an LSA with particular reference to the officers. I have asked our LSA to put such an issue on the next agenda; when the topic comes up for consultation I want to be able to consult with both references and...

Re: Depression: No Respecter of Faith

Thanks, Brett, it should also be noted, that in the writings, those suffering from mental "defect" are in a category apart and will be treated mercifully should they die by suicide as a result. In any case, back biting is forbidden under any circumstances, mental illness does not make anyb...

Depression: No Respecter of Faith

It has been suggested by some that when depression kills an afflicted person they would have survived their illness had they been one of faithful or lived a different life style. To stigmatize current or former patients in such manner is a great injustice. Major depression is no respecter of faith, ...

Looking for spacific quote by Abdu'l-Baha RE Backbiting

I know I read it and can not locate it now. Abdu'l-Baha said (paraphrased poorly here) Ask if this serves any useful purpose or advances the cause of God... Can anyone remember what volume that advise is in. I want to learn the EXACT words and commit them to memory. Thanks for any help!

Thank You, Jonah, but I checked all of those Google links before coming here; all are the same UHJ notes being repeated. brettz9, that was a useful bit. Can anyone direct me to a Bio for Joy Stevenson? My LSA has asked me to locate information about her for a memorial next week and I can not find anything beyond what the Universal House of Justice said in the letter about her passing on to the Abha Kingdom.I wrote to the NSA of Australia but have re...

Re: Kalimat Press

OK, I've got the general line now. Baha'is are free to read any bloody thing they like. To publish as a Baha'i, one must not, in any way, shape or form, bash the institutions because that would be, in effect, bashing the covenant Baha'is are sworn to uphold. The "Last Will and Testament" o...

Re: Seeking quotations on the Faith from non-Baha'i sources

1900, Persia by a Persian, Rev. Isaac Adams, M.D.pg. 453 begins a long bit on the Bab and Babism. For the most part he is respectful of the Faith and most of what he has to say we would agree with BUT he is clearly a Christian missionary type and makes some glaring errors. Still, he teats the Baha'i...

Re: What do Baha'is say about Exodus & 40 years wandering

I don't think you'll find a satisfactory answer. They are stories with some factual basis but in which the point of the story is more important than factual accuracy, stories that tell who a people are, where they came from, where they're going and how they'll get there. As a result, they are true ...

What do Baha'is say about Exodus & 40 years wandering

There really is not much of evidence for the Moses story. I would like to find a Baha'i view. There seems to be lot of historical data in the OT Bible that simply proves incorrect in the science. How do we reconcile these stories with the Baha'i Faith?

I think we are always allowed to seek the help of an authority, that is not gossip unless you give false evidence, LSA, Priest, Police, Christian Ministers etc.

Why are we told not to purchase from them. Why not just warn us about the items that should not have passed review?
