The Barack Obama Administration and Baha'i Human Rights

Now that the election is over, I think we've arrived at a a non-objectionable time to start a discussion on this issue. I've been thinking a great deal about what role the Obama Administration can have in influencing the human rights status of Baha'i's, specifically in Iran. I feel that Obama must a...

Re: House authority

the short answer is no. The National and Local Assemblies will eventually evolve into Houses of Justice when the Universal House of Justice says so. Its a very momentous step when that happens and I don't see any conceivable reason why the jurisdiction to do so would be anywhere outside the authorit...

Re: Last Prophet?

Baha'u'llah says in Kitab-i-Aqdas that there will be no messenger after Him. But in the following one thousand years. I think it is related to the question of Abu Talib. So, if you see the perpetual mechanism of sending guidance from God through Apostles-Messengers then all those moments of the sea...

Re: Last Prophet?

In Islam, if the Mahdi will reign until the Day of Judgement then how can the Day of Judgement herald the Mahdi? As well, can someone interpret this Hadith for me? "O Ali, you are to me as Aaron was to Moses, except that there is no prophet after me." In Islam they believe that the Mahdi ...

Day of Resurrection

Here is a passage from the Persian Bayan as translated by Dr. Denis MacEoin http://www.h-net.org/~bahai/trans/bayan/bay2-7.htm The Seventh Gate of the Second Unity Concerning the explanation of the Day of Resurrection. The substance of this chapter is that the meaning of 'the Day of Resurrection' is...

Re: Who Claimed to be the Mahdi?

Hi, Are you the same Ibn Abu Talib who posts on the Theology Web? No I am not. Ibn Abu Talib means "son of Abu Talib", and my name is Abu Talib "father of Talib". But anyway, how can every manifestation be the same when two or more of them can exist at one time? While The Bab an...

Re: Last Prophet?

Muhammad is the Seal of the Prophets and Messengers until the Day of Resurrection. The difference is that Baha'i's believe the Day of Resurrection is the coming of a new Messenger - The Bab. The Bab (Imam Mahdi) was the prelude to the coming of Baha'u'llah ('return' of 'Christ')

Yeah his insults are about the level of a fourth graders - he'll just curse you off and question your sexuality if you disagree with him. I want to add another thing. He's also become very openly racist. He talks down to those that are not Iranian and has this fanatic sense that all things western a...

The Nima Hazini / "Wahid Azal" Story

Well Nima Hazini's story as I have pieced it together is like this, He was originally a Baha'i. Then he had issue with being obedient to the institutions of Guardianship and the Universal House of Justice. In web forums from the 90's he would talk about how he felt maybe the Will and Testament of Ab...

Nima Hazini is notorious for manufacturing conspiracy theories. He wakes up every morning and thinks up how he can go online to Baha'i message boards and spread lies to cause chaos. Seriously he floods message boards with conspiracy theories against the Baha'i Faith that have no documentation backi...

Re: 95-day engagement rule also applies to half-persians?

i can understand the puzzlement. the underlying concept here is that there are certain laws that have been applied in Iran as the faith has been a large developed community there more than any other antion, and not yet in the west. Huquq'u'llah for one thing wasn't applied universally until the 90's...

Re: (VIDEO) a mullah in a mosque talking about the bahais

I personally think it is wrong to generalize any group of people as being good, or being bad. It does disservice to the individual of any group in society. I don't think this sermon is very new. A Persian Baha'i played me a sermon just like this over two years ago, and translated it for me while it...

I asked once when on pilgrimage and was told that as far as they knew there was no sound recording of the voice of Shoghi Effendi. There are. I know someone who worked in the Audio/Visual department when he was on service in Haifa. There are recorded speeches and sermons of Shoghi Effendi. He would...

Thanks Brett, I agree totally. I think its being discussed to much, as discussion f them and their claims gives them the attention they want.. I think as a historical discussion its fine, but when we go in and discuss their claims and refute them it just gives them what they want. It makes their cla...

Re: Reconciling Progressive Revelation with Christian viewpoints

Keyvan, it's been a while since I've looked at the site, but while we certainly cannot endorse Joseph Smith as a prophet, the Universal House of Justice, in a letter on its behalf, wrote that while he was not a "prophet, minor or otherwise", he was a "religious teacher sensitive to t...

Greetings! A supplementary source might be: http://www.bci.org/prophecy-fulfilled I do not like this site. We need to stop linking people to it. Here's an interesting article on the matter Mason Remey and Joel Bray Marangella Chad Jones October 26 2001 Mason Remey was a great lion of the Covenant before his ego outpaced him. Which makes the story of his tragic fall all the more chilling and reminds us of our duty to "avoid fellowship wi...

But I'm nearly certain the passage you quote is from Ishraq-Khavari, Ganjinih Hudud va Ahkam, pp. 338-339. The key words in that passage are, zina, lavat and khianarr, which have been rendered as adultery, ...

So are we sure that Khiaanat is the word used in the Tablet that was translated to "Lechery?" not Sihaqah or Fesq? If thats true then regardless of anything that would be a serious translation error that was released in that letter... 8-[ I would think that "Treachery" wouldn't f...
