Is this the real website of UHJ with Bahaullah's Photograph?

Postby Ahsan_al_Hadees » Tue May 27, 2008 1:40 am

[WEBLINK EDITED OUT]Reasons/explanations given below. Fri 30th May 08.

Here are some explanations O:)
(taken from http://www.bahai-library.org/uhj/cbreak ... hotos.html)

"Concerning the question of display of the photograph of Baha'u'llah, the Guardian's instructions were that this should be done only with the utmost reverence,
and then only on special occasions. While the Guardian did not require believers to send such photographs to the Holy Land, he said that it was better to do so. However, if you have made any photographic copies or negatives of the photograph or the portrait, these should be forwarded to the Holy Land in a safe way."

(From a letter dated 1 August 17 written by the Universal House of Justice to an individual believer)

"It would be good to advise the young Persian believer who has this picture that, while we do not wish to suggest that he should remove the photograph from his book, it would be inappropriate for him to show it to others in a casual manner. As you know, the photograph of Baha'u'llah is very precious and it should be handled with due reverence and respect."

(From a letter dated 7 February 1972 written by the Universal House of Justice to an individual believer)

"The portraits of the Bab and Baha'u'llah should be shown infrequently and on very special occasions, such as a special observance connected with an event intimately associated with the Forerunner or Founder of our Faith.
We do not think that the regular National Convention is such a special occasion, and we feel that the privilege of displaying these very precious portraits should not be abused."

(From a letter dated 12 July 1973 written by the Universal House of Justice to the National Spiritual Assembly of Panama)

Whatever site it is, it is not the site of the House of Justice, as the photo will only be shown on special occasions...

No, that's a fake site.

The "line of David" reference is a giveaway that this site is not drawing on the Bahai teachings, but rather on Christian millenarianism. In the Bahai teachings, it is almost always Christ who is connected to the prophecies concerning a David who will sit upon the throne. Millenialists generally think that the sovereignty of the Messiah will take the form of an earthly government, so they do not believe that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies, so they expect someone else to come along and do it. In the Iqan, Baha'u'llah explains:

"... by sovereignty is meant the all-encompassing, all-pervading power which is inherently exercised by the Qá'im whether or not He appear to the world clothed in the majesty of earthly dominion. This is solely dependent upon the will and pleasure of the Qá'im Himself. You will readily recognize that the terms sovereignty, wealth, life, death, judgment and resurrection, spoken of by the scriptures of old, are not what this generation hath conceived and vainly imagined. ... That sovereignty is the spiritual ascendancy which He exerciseth to the fullest degree over all that is in heaven and on earth, and which in due time revealeth itself to the world..."
(Baha'u'llah, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 106)

Hi Sen,

Thanks for your input =D>

Should not the UHJ be informed about this fake site?

They know. There are a lot of groups out there attempting to create splinter faiths doing the same thing. They are small groups of people and ever dwindling to almost non existance.

Names like "Baha'i" and "Universal House of Justice" have been copyrighted by the National Spiritual Assemblies around the world. The one you have brought up is one such group based in the United States and are under ever going prosecution for copyright infringement.

This particular website was the matter of a specific case which you can read about here.
