Postby Daniel » Thu Dec 22, 2005 2:00 pm

I would like to learn short obligatory prayer in arabic. If there is someone who can transliterate it or tell where I can find a transliteration, please help me.

Here is the Arabic text taken from the http://reference.bahai.org Word document. Maybe someone here could provide a more exact transliteration than I could...

If you (or someone here) uses a PC, you could get a free Arabic/Farsi transliterator at http://www.cc.jyu.fi/~amishak/links/links.html (not sure how good it is)...If you (or someone here) does download it and tries it, please share the results of the transliteration with us...This question has actually come up before...

thanks,
Brett

Software

I tried to install the transliteration software. It won't start, it just crashes when I try to start it... :(
That would be so nice and usefull software, but at least I my computer doesn't like it. I will try to install it again later, if I get it to work, I will share results with all of you. But if someone gets it working before me, please notify us about it...

Are you sure that the arabic text was short obligatory prayer? Compare it to http://www.bahai-site.org/writings/saghir.htm
I didn't find them to be the same text.

Yes, it is the same...I only cut and pasted the actual prayer part...The other part is just the name of the prayer and the basic directions on how to read it...

(and the ⌡ mark is just a fancy end of sentence marker)

best wishes,
Brett

The Arabic text of short obligatory prayer is wrongly printed in one the old book in persain: Ad'iyyih-i-Hadrat-i-Mahbub in persian: ادعیه حضرت محبوب
I do not know that All persian Baha'i knows about this mistake. and somebody should inform this site: http://www.bahai-site.org/writings/saghir.htm, which is using the wrong one.

Ofcourse the right one is the same that brettz9 wrote.

For your info, I could not ran this software on my pc.
I use another software which is free and ya, very good. Its names is Golden Al-Wafi Translator, if you want to try download it from here:

Dear Hossein,

Perhaps you can explain...I see the text to be exactly the same at their site as what I posted from the official copy...

Dear brettz9
The short obligatory prayer in this link: http://www.bahai-site.org/writings/saghir.htm is correct, now. I think somebody put the correct one since yesterday. But they have other mistake which I informed them, eg. spelling of Bahá'u'lláh here is not correct: http://www.bahai-site.org/writings/english.htm, also the correct "text" of short obligatory prayer in arabic is this:

اشهد يا الهی بانک خلقتنی لعرفانک و عبادتک، اشهد فی هذا الحين بعجزی و قوتک و ضعفی و اقتدارک و فقری و غنائک، لا اله الا انت المهيمن القيوم

In this site RTL tag/function is not enabled, who can add it? or it is?

Have a nice time

I should add a part of Shoghi Effendis letter to the question of mr. Eshragh Khavari dated Nov. 9. 1933 about the differences text in different printed version of short obligatory prayer, shoghi Effendi explaineded that the correct text wrote by Zeyn-ul-Mogharrebin hand writing is the right and correct text.

I am sorry I could not find this letter in english book, but mr. Eshragh Khavari in the book: Ganjinehe-e-Hodud-va-Ahkam (Baha'i publishing trust, new delhi, reprinted in oct. 1980, p.24) has referred to this letter. And the correct text is in my last post (Sun Dec 25, 2005 12:08 pm).

In this site RTL tag/function is not enabled, who can add it? or it is?

If "by this site" you mean, the forum, you can add it to an HTML div tag like this:

Code: Select all

<div dir="rtl">testing this now</div>

will produce:

<div dir="rtl">testing this now</div>

If I ever have an infinite amount of time, I could hack the code here to add it as its own separate (short) tag... :)

By the way, if you go to the texts at http://bahai-library.com/browser , the ones with Arabic (presently the Aqdas and Hidden Words), the Arabic text has the directionality added within the table...
