nine pointed figure

Postby Simon » Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:26 am

My kids and i have noticed that in a nine sided figure (nonagon) there are 1260 degrees. Obviously this is of interest to bahais as 1260 in islamic calendar = 1844 ce. Any other phenomena such as this known to readers ?

it takes 19 distinct points to make a nine pointed star.

btw 19 is the number of The Apostles of Bahá'u'lláh .

to draw a nine pointed star, you put a dot at the center of a page,
then another dot a certain distance away , say 3 inches,
then from the second dot , go half the distance back towards the original dot and 20 degrees to either side.
you should see a pattern that can be repeated and when repeated will place 18 dots
which would be basically be two circles each containing 9 dots
go up and down connecting the dots and tada

a nine pointed star

total 18 dots and one in the center ... 19 distinct points to make a nine pointed star

see also Baha'i calendar
if googled there are a whole bunch of awesome Baha'i calendar stuff
