Need obscure historical details

Postby c3ponds » Fri Dec 13, 2013 5:23 pm

Dear Friends;

Sources say Tahirih was martyred while Baha'u'llah was in the Siyyah-Chal. Does anyone have something more specific, like in the first week after the attempt on the Shah, or two months later?

Here's another one. In "Abdu'l-Baha in London," p. 115, the Master states about 70 disciples accompanied Baha'u'llah and His family "on his journey of exile to Baghdad". Are any of those disciples named anywhere? Anyone know who some or all of them were?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Not sure about the disciples, but as far as Tahirih, according to the Dawn-Breakers, p. 628, there is a footnote (no. 1) after the words "On the third day after her martyrdom" which gives a date of "August, 1852".

Since the attempt on the Shah's life was, per footnote 2 of p. 599 of the Dawn-Breakers, "August 15, 1852", it would appear that if her martyrdom (or third day after her martyrdom??) was still in August that at most 2 or so weeks could have passed to still remain in August.

The contributors to Wikipedia apparently agree as they list the date of her death as August 16–27, 1852.

Dear c3ponds, welcome to the forums :computer:

If you are having difficulty in finding this information, have you thought about contacting the research department at the Universal House of Justice?
