Tablet of Visitation be read facing Qiblih

Postby HuangRan » Wed Jul 02, 2014 3:30 am

Dear friends,

Should the Tablet of Visitation which is read on his anniversary of the Bab and Bahaullah, be read facing the Qiblih?

Hi Huang Ran,

"Nothing has been found in the Bahá'í Writings requiring the friends to stand and face the Qiblih whenever the Tablets of Visitation are recited. No issue should be made of this matter when a Holy Day observance is being held. However, when one is actually in, or within the precincts of one of the Holy Shrines, it is an act of simple reverence to stand and face that Shrine when the Tablet of Visitation is recited."

In most communities I have lived, on anniversaries of the Bab and Baha'u'llah we have made it a practice to stand Facing the Qiblih. Oddly, it was never discussed, we just all seemed to think it correct. Perhaps just because that is what we would do if we were able to visit the Holy Shrines for such blessed events.
