On March 27th, the Moscow Kremlin’s Spasskaya Tower clock will for the last time be set forward one hour.

The transition to daylight saving time (DTS) was established in 1981 in an attempt to reduce energy consumption.

In February this year, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made the final decision to abolish the seasonal clock change, referring to the scientists who believe that such a transition may be harmful for people’s health.

The authorities of the Tokelau Islands, in the Pacific, have decided to skip December 30th and move from December 29th right to the 31st .

Tokelau officially form part of New Zealand, but are almost 24 hours behind the main part of the country time wise. But the islanders will live in the same time belt as of the New Year, which will largely facilitate their cooperation with Wellington, according to the BBC. Prior to Tokelau, Samoa made his kind of decision.
