Letters from Shoghi Effendi

A sizable percentage of the letters Shoghi Effendi wrote in English have been published, and most of these can be found online at Sifter: An institute for the study of Baha'i Writings. This collection represents just a few letters which haven't been yet published in their entirety. They are organized more or less chronologically.

  1. Letters regarding "easy familiarity": includes a letter written on behalf of the Guardian about (1) the fallibility of local and national institutions, and (2) divergences of opinion in assembly voting.

  2. Shoghi Effendi wrote a few letters to Laura Dreyfus-Barney on the event of her husband Hippolyte's death.

  3. letter to Marzieh Gail from October, 1942, explains election as due to human reasons and contains a words of inspiration and guidance for Marzieh Gail.

  4. Letter to Jináb-i-Áqá Mírzá Bádí’u’lláh Khán of Abadih, dated 1941, trans. Juan Cole. Answers four questions: (1) re "Crimson Scroll"; (2) re the "Sacred Night"; (3) re the "Tablet of the Bell"; and (4) using the Kitab-i-Aqdas for bibliomancy.
