UGA task force wins Baha'i diversity award
The Athens Chapter of the Baha'i Faith will present its Unity in Diversity award to the University of Georgia College of Education's Multicultural Task Force at a reception June 13 on campus.
The task force won the award for its work in developing ways to accept and affirm differences and similarities among people.
Each year, the Baha'is publicly recognize several individuals or groups, and the presentation of this year's award is scheduled for the Baha'i of Athens-Clarke County's Race Unity Reception at 3 p.m. June 13 in the Reception Hall at Tate Student Center.
The Multicultural Task Force comprises 40 faculty, staff and students. It was formed to fight discrimination.
The Baha'i Faith is a global religion that believes in the oneness of humankind and that actively works to overcome prejudice and to celebrate diversity.
