LA CRESCENTA -- It wasn't good grades that were being rewarded this week at
Crescenta Valley High School -- it was good deeds.
Twenty-two students were recognized Thursday by school officials and the
local Baha'i religious community for their virtues.
The awards were given to students for acts of courtesy, kindness, compassion,
responsibility tolerance, honesty, reliability, respect or trustworthiness.
The students were nominated by their teachers. They were recognized
for doing something as simple as opening a door for someone to changing a
tire for a driver stranded on the freeway, said Michele Morris, a parent
who works with the Baha'i community on the program.
The students were given $20 gift certificates to Rocky Cola Cafe.
The winners were: Lauren Pappas, Suzanne da Silva, Peter Barth, Arshak
Avanesyan, Caroline Chee, Christine Jones, Robert Orozco, Diane Astovrian,
Yannick D'Assignies, Jamie Robinson, Chris Apodaca, Lauren Masters, Olga
Krymskaya, Eric Carlsen, Heather McLaughlin, Anthony La Casella, Michael
Tuck, Brandon Smith, John Garden, Branden Garden, Megan McNaught and Joe
