Baha’i functionaries accorded reception

KOCHI: The state Baha’i Council of Kerala on Saturday accorded a reception to Dr Thahira Vajdi, chairperson, National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is in India, and B Afshin, former member of the Continental Board of Counsellors in Asia, at the Baha’i Centre, here on Saturday.

Identified by Encyclopaedia Britannica as the fastest spreading faith in the world after Christianity, the Baha’i faith was founded by Baha’u’llah in Iran in 1884 and has followers across the world. Its international headquarters, Universal House of Justice, is situated atop Mount Carmel in Haifa in Israel.

Its national headquarters, the National Spiritual Assembly, is in New Delhi. The community’s only place of worship in the country, the Lotus Temple, is also in New Delhi. Incidentally, India has the largest number of Baha’i followers in the world.
