CHICAGO

Daley Plaza, Dearborn and Washington: Actor Gary Sinise leads the city's official service, which includes the reading of an interfaith prayer at 11:45 a.m. The city will also observe three minutes of silence at noon and the ringing of bells at houses of worship. Call (312) 744-3315.

Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn: The University of Chicago's carillon bells will ring starting at 7:48 a.m. At 8 a.m., a short prayer service will be held in the chapel. . Call (773) 702- 2100. Taqwa Islamic Center, 4545 S. Western: A memorial service and open house begins at noon. Call (773) 254-8958. American Indian Center, 1630 W. Wilson: A Native American Pow Wow and prayer circle will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. Call (773) 275-5871. Olive Park, off Grand, east of Lake Shore Drive: The Burnham Park Yacht Club will offer a procession of patriotic-decorated boats, starting at 4:30 p.m. and heading north to Navy Pier, then back south to Burnham Harbor. Addison Trail High School, 213 N. Lombard, Addison: A tribute begins at 9 a.m. Items from the Ground Zero Flag Tour will be on display. Call (630) 543-4100.

Aurora Millennium Plaza, 27 S. Stolp: A ceremony begins at 7:45 a.m. Call (630) 844-3640.

Bartlett Village Hall, 228 S. Main: A candlelight walk starts at 7 p.m. Call (630) 837-0800.

Lake Forest, Barat Chapel, 700 E. Westleigh: There will be a noon remembrance service at Barat College of DePaul. Call (847) 574-4224. Lisle: Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois (Illinois 53): Volunteers will plant thousands of bulbs for red, white and blue tulips. Events begin at 11 a.m. Call (630) 719-2465. Naperville Municipal Center, Aurora and Eagle: A groundbreaking for the city's Sept. 11 memorial--which will include wreckage from the World Trade Center and Pentagon--begins at 8:15 a.m. Call (630) 420-6034. Oak Park, Scoville Park, 800 W. Lake: A candlelight ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. Participants are asked to bring candles. Call (708) 358-5409.

Orland Park Village Hall, 14700 Ravinia: A ceremony will include the raising of a World Trade Center flag at 7 p.m. Call (708) 403-6100.

Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton: Ringing of church bells starting at 8:45 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 10 a.m. Call (847) 933-8257.

Tinley Park: Odyssey Country Club, 19110 S. Ridgeland Ave.: At 7 p.m. Wednesday, 3,202 electric candles will be cast afloat on a pond at the country club. On shore, 3,202 flags, each carrying the name of a 9/11 victim, will be waved. Army Lt. Col. David Manville, who survived the Pentagon attack, will speak. A piper will blow a dirge, and seven doves--to represent the three hijacked flights that struck buildings, the two World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Penn., where United Flight 93 crashed after passengers fought the terrorists on board--will be set free.

Wheaton, DuPage County Complex, 421 N. County Farm: The dedication of the DuPage County Police and Firefighters Memorial sculpture will be at 2 p.m. Call (630) 682-7413. Wilmette, Gillson Park, 850 Michigan Ave. on the lakefront just north of the Ba'hai Temple: People are invited to bring a flower to a one-hour gathering, starting at 7:45 a.m., to be included in a temporary memorial.
