Religion celebrates `birthday'
By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner
THE SPIRITUAL Assembly of the Baha'is of Kirklees are celebrating the birth of the founder of their religion this week.
Baha'u'llah, a title meaning `Glory of God', was born on November 12, 1817, in Persia into considerable wealth but turned his back on a noble life to help the poor and needy.
He died in 1892 after spending the last 40 years of his life in exile, often as a prisoner.
His teachings have now spread worldwide.
The Kirklees Baha'is met to celebrate the day and give thanks for Baha'u'llah's life at the home of vice-chairman Christine Dalton.
