||The S.S. Cedric stops at Naples.
- Shoghi Effendi is taken off the ship owing to an eye infection. [AB171–2]
- Three of their party, Áqá Khusraw, Mirzá Munír-i-Zayn and Shoghi Effendi were diagnosed as having an eye infection. At the time Italy was at war with Turkey and there was an air of animosity towards the Bahá’ís, who were mistaken for Turks. Dr. Amin Farid insisted to ‘Abdu’l-Bahá that Shoghi Effendi should be sent away, supporting with various arguments the diagnosis of the Italian doctor whom he had discredited earlier.[MD14-23, PP19-21, JourneyWest27Mar2012]
