Dear friends,

The Wilmette Institute is pleased to announce the launch of its new series "Exploring the Ministry, Writings, and Talks of `Abdu'l-Baha." Our first course in the series, "`Abdu'l-Baha: The Exemplar," starts October 1. In this course we'll be providing an overview of the Master's life, teachings, and his station as the Center of the Covenant and the embodiment of human perfections. Next year we will follow with a second course devoted to the travels and talks of Abdu'l-Baha.

We anticipate exciting discussions, and we have many materials and articles to share with students only, on the course's private website. Below is a brief description. For more information, visitwilmetteinstitute.org/abdulbaha.html , or to register go to wilmetteinstitute.org/applications. If you have any questions about the course or about the Wilmette Institute in general, please contact the registrar, Jonah Winters, at info@wilmetteinstitute.org or phone toll-free 1-877-WILMETTE x1.

Sincerely,
Jonah Winters, registrar

`ABDU'L-BAHA: THE EXEMPLAR

TOPIC: `Abdu'l-Baha is unique in religious history, for He is not a Manifestation of God, but is closer in station to a Manifestation than to the station of humanity. Drawing off of statements by `Abdu'l-Baha Himself and Shoghi Effendi, as well as writings by countless Baha'is, the course will explore His life, writings, talks, travels, station, various titles, accomplishments, relationship with Baha'u'llah, and the impact that He had on others.

DATES: October 1 to December 31, 2001

TEXTS: Hasan Balyuzi's `Abdu'l-Baha: The Centre of the Covenant of Baha'u'llah; a statement by Shoghi Effendi about `Abdu'l-Baha's station; pilgrim's notes; and a compilation of descriptions and commentaries on `Abdu'l-Baha's writings and talks assembled by the Wilmette Institute. These will be available both online and by mail.

FACULTY:
Dr. Iraj Ayman
Dr. Robert Stockman
