The Utterances of the Unlettered and the Proof of the Divine Call

Abstract: This Tablet of the Báb illuminates the nature of His divine proclamation and the authority of His unlettered utterances. Manifested neither through human learning nor acquisition, His words — whether in sermons, echoing the Nahj al-Balāghah; in supplications, following the Ṣaḥīfah (Sajjādiyyah); or in Verses, conforming to the Book of God — constitute living proof of the Divine, with a single proof in a Divine summons sufficing to establish His claim.

The Báb’s God-given inner nature bears witness spontaneously, rendering extraordinary acts unnecessary. Even ordinary moments, such as halting for tea, are suffused with divine significance, demonstrating the supremacy of spiritual knowledge. The Tablet affirms the Oneness of God, the ordinances of the Qur’án, and the absence of any intention to associate partner with God, cautioning against inferring imagined causes. It concludes that, had this Cause brought the slightest abasement to any soul, it would not have been manifested.
