abstract noteTwentieth century struggles for social change included many that were characterized by non-violence and civil disobedience. The Iranian Bahá’í community's non-adversarial approach to social change occurred under under conditions of severe persecution and oppression. Social change literature has paid scan attention to this non-adversarial model. This article brings the model into focus, explaining the community's experience, examining the principles that inform Baha'i responses to oppression, and deriving insights into the dynamics of social change.
