abstract note	The present study is a critical analysis of literature regarding counseling with Iranian-Americans. This dissertation will provide an overview and critically analyze the existing relevant literature on the common mental health challenges Iranian-Americans face and how they are addressed in mental health settings. Special attention will also be paid to acculturation and cultural considerations that impact treatment. Based on the existing literature, strengths as well as limitations will be discussed, and suggestions will be made for future research in this area. This dissertation will conclude with recommendations based on the existing literature as well as this author’s personal and professional experiences in order to improve clinical work with this population.
