abstract note	In order to explore the lessons that can be learned from history when these lessons have a relevance to our era and our near future, the author adopts a perspective of philosophy of history, grounded in Weltanschauung or vision of the world of civilization. He then studies the following paradigms of Christian history shed light on Bahá'í history: the rise and decline of civilization, the role of the Zeitgeist or spirit of the century, transculturalism, and political institutions.
