Abstract	Dorn's travels as documented in this account by Khanikof led him to Mazandaran. Dorn left Saint -Pétersbourg on August 29, 1860: 'M. Dorn se décida à s'arrêter pour quelque temps à Barfrouche, où il se rendit le 29 octobre. Pendant les quatre semaines qu'il y resta, le sevant voyageur recueillit des matériaux pour un glossaire du dialecte mazandéranien, compulsa une grammaire de cet idiome... En même temps, il eut le bonheur de découvrir quelques pièces de vers des poëtes mazandéraniens Talib et Baba Tahir, inconnus jusqu'à présent et rares même dans le Mazandéran; enfin, il fit l'acquisition d'une histoire de la secte des Babis de cette province, rédigée en mazandéranien, avec la traduction persane...' Translation: 'Mr. Dorn decided to stop for some time in Barfrouche, arriving on October 29. During the four weeks that he remained there, he collected materials for a glossary of the Mazandéranian dialect , examined the grammar of this idiom... At the same time, he was happy to discover some pieces of poetry of the Mazandéranian poets Talib and Baba Tahir [11th century mystic], unknown until now and rare even in Mazandéran; finally, he acquired a history of the sect of the Babis of this province, written in Mazandéranian, with Persian translation...' Mirza Kazem-Beg lists this history entitled Násikhu't-Tavaráikh by Shaykhu'l-'Ajam as a source of his work (see #22919-22923). For further details, see Momen's The Bábí and Bahá'í Religions, 1844-1944 Some Contemporary Western Accounts, pp. 15-16, 26 (see 7.1581), and the Journal Asiatique July, 1865, reporting that Khanikof donated a collection of 161 manuscripts to the library of Saint Petersburg in 1864 that included the 'Koran of the Babis,' and this history, both acquired by Dorn.
