[In English: "It is a beautiful and noble philosophy, that of optimism, tolerance and fraternity. It is not always alas ! that which our social reformers practice; and it is singular to note that one less often meets it on our premises than among these Moslems, towards which the Occident, badly informed, so readily regards them with fanaticism. A man has just traversed Europe preaching these doctrines of serenity and kindness. He is Persian of origin and is called 'Abdu'l-Bahá. He is the son and the worthy successor of Bahá'u'llah, prophet and founder of the Bahá'í Faith, which, after a half-century, has begun to spread in the Moslem world the ideas of tolerance and fraternity..."] |
| Notes | Bahá'í Faith: pp. 1-2. On the front page, below the journal heading, is a nearly full-page, 4-color engraving of 'Abdu'l-Bahá standing on an eastern pulpit with his arms widespread and raised in the air, encircled by humble men in fezzes and turbans with their heads bowed. The article at top of page 2 falls under the heading 'Explication de Nos Gravures' ('Explanation of Our Engravings:'). English translation of title: 'The New Prophet of Islam : Abdul-Bahá preaching appeasement and fraternity in a mosque in Constantinople.' |
