Abstract Shoghi Effendi edited and translated from the Persian the first part of this exhaustive account of the origins of the Bábí movement. The author was himself a contemporary of many of the principals and a participant in some of the events. Included are an introduction by George Townshend, facsimiles of writings of the Báb, many photographs of places discussed, a bibliography of works consulted by Shoghi Effendi, and a guide to transliteration.
