Abstract	Written while the author was secretary to Shoghi Effendi. A comparison of Christian and Islamic mysticism contrasted with the Bahá'í approach to the subject, It is recognized that religion is fundamentally mystical in character and that the Christian, Islamic and Bahá'í traditions have common elements. The principles that prevent individual Bahá'ís from claiming mystical revelation are explained.
