Abstract	Russian scholars were among the first to pay serious attention to the emergence of Babism in Iran and its gradual development and rebirth into the Baha'i faith. Academician V. V. Bartold believed that that “Russian works on Babism still remain one of the best pages in the history of Russian oriental studies". Formed in the middle of the 19th century, the relationship between Russia and Iran favored a detailed acquaintance of Russian diplomatic officials, military personnel, representatives of commercial and business circles and scientists with economics, social relations, 'political life, history, culture, religious struggle and other aspects of social life in Iran. And it is quite natural that a broad popular movement associated with the name Sayyid Ali Mohammed, (who called himself the Bab (door, gates to the 'knowledge of God), was reflected in the official in diplomatic papers, in private correspondence, in scholarly works, in popular essays, and so on in Islam. The interest that Soviet scientists are now showing in Babism and Bahaism, suggests that in the near future there will be research not only on the history of these not yet fully studied currents, but also the history of their study. Available in the archives of the Soviet Union materials about (Babis and Baha'is) will help researchers to more fully illuminate the history of one of the most interesting religious and political currents in Islam.
