abstract	The stage of the pre-Guardian American community will be briefly sketched, as well as Shoghi Effendi's establishment as Guardian and his acceptance by the Baha'i community. This will be followed by a discussion of the major points of doctrine synthesized by Shoghi Effendi that played a role in the evolution of the Baha'i community during the period under consideration.
