abstract	Redmond looks at Holmes' approach to religion and reason, considering it possible that Holmes passed through the Holy Land and met Bahá'u'lláh or His followers in 1892. Redmond suggests that Holmes may be a "Manifestation" of reason or rationality who was true to his "faith" of the rational. "...perhaps there are those who will stake their lives on 'rationality.' But for myself, I have to conclude that Sherlock Holmes... was not also a Manifestation of God. God gives us more than pure reason; God gives us love" (p.22).
notes	Bahá'u'lláh: pp. 17-19. This paper was presented on 28th June, 1997, at Lasting Impressions, the symposium held to celebrate the Silver Aniversary of The Bootmakers of Toronto. The author was editor of Canadian Holmes from 1979 to 1991.
