| Abstract | Cole investigates the contacts between Bahá'u'lláh and the politically liberal reformers in Iran and Turkey in the late 19th century. Bahá'u'lláh's advocacy of democratic reforms and the protection of the poor from tyranny are set in the context of the debate of His times, and the millenarian origins of the Faith. His approach is compared and contrasted to those of like-minded reformers. |
