| abstract | In the wake of a bomb threat in London, intelligence groups throughout the world trace leads to a secret CIA black site in Poland before discovering a massive assassination plot in India that threatens to destabilize global politics. The main character, Leila, is from a Bahá'í family that escaped from Iran during the Islamic Revolution in 1979. However, Leila's mother returned to Iran. The persecution of Bahá'ís and threats to her mother's life lead Leila to compromising decisions in intelligence work (spying) for three countries. When her mother dies and she sees the results of these choices, she chooses to become a Bahá'í. She then sacrifices her life to save the U.S. President during an assassination attempt on the steps of the Bahá'í Temple in New Delhi. |
