| Abstract | This essay describes features of "fundamentalism" and "liberalism" in the religious world. It suggests that these different outlooks arise largely from psychological, rather than sociological, origins. ach represents a particular cognitive style,a general way of looking at the world, and a mode of organizing knowledge. This essay also looks at some of the resources in the Bahá'í Faith dealing with the tensions that arise within the Bahá'í community as a result of these different mind-sets. |
