| abstract | Contrasts the spiritual purpose of 'Abdu'l-Bahá's first visit to Paris with the secular aims of his prominent Iranian contemporaries—such as ('Allámih) Muḥammad Qazvíní, Ḥasan Taqízádih, and Muḥammad-'Alí Furúghí—who traveled there roughly around the same time. The essay also highlights the novelty and genius of 'Abdu'l-Bahá's approach in appealing to the sensibilities of the Parisians at that time and inviting them to expand their materialistic horizons to include spiritual ideals. |
