abstract	"I first encountered the name of the French-Portuguese pianist, Marie-Antoinette Aussenac on the pages of the Atlântida magazine, a monthly dedicated to the concept of Portuguese-Brazilian brotherhood. In 1915–1920 when the magazine was published continuously, its editors and authors did not pay special attention to women’s issues and female artists; the intellectual world was highly masculine both in Portugal and Brazil, only a few women with extraordinary skills, ambition and luck could make it to the pages of the magazine. Aussenac, the popular, young musician received attention first from the magazine in 1920, on her concert tour in Portugal. Her personality and lifestyle as an artist was regarded as a Neo-Latin achievement that arouse the interest and suited well the concept of the Atlântida magazine. However, later she turned towards Eastern religions and became the follower and supporter of Babism, a reformist Shiite movement."
