abstract	Itchyfeet: A Memoir of Family, Palestine, Australia and World Travels is a fascinating account of war service in Palestine from 1942-1948; the birth of international air travel and the Post War tourism sector (1950+). In 1942, aged 18, Reg Priestley was seconded from the British Army into the Palestine Police mandated in 1920. He served until May 15, 1948 when the State of Israel was created and was in the final five officers to leave the country. On a chance flight in a retired DC3 troop carrier, he realised that he was witnessing the birth of air travel. He joined BEA (now British Airways), then Thomas Cooks, then emigrated to Australia to work for Kings Travel, TAA, Ansett and Brambles. In Palestine, he patrols Jerusalem daily for two years, and the Holy Land, extensively from 1944-1948. He meets all the major players in the conflict for independence. He learns to speak fluent Arabic and later converts to Islam, and helps incorporate the Islamic Faith in Australia. He later converts to the Baha'i Faith. This is not just a memoir but an insightful and deeply personal commentary on war, politics, religion and faith.
