| abstract | "During the 19th century AD, the Islamic countries witnessed the emergence of various doctrinal movements and new intellectual currents. Followers of these movements found the opportunity and suitable environment to propagate their unconventional ideas within society. The concept of the awaited Imam Mahdi served as the cornerstone for the establishment of such ideas and beliefs. Certain aspects of the Mahdist issue were exploited as a starting point for the propagation of these ideologies. Among these movements were Bábism and Bahá'ísm, which emerged in mid 19th century Iran during the reign of Mohammad Shah Qajar. This movement appeared as a breakaway from Sheikhism and Isma'ilism, drawing on their teachings." The authors consider Islam to be constrained by "logic and rational tools," while other movements emerging from it they consider irrational based on "revelations and dreams." The authors follow the usual anti-Bahá'í notions of foreign actors (Russia and Britain) being responsible for its existence, relying on the clumsy forgery known as the Dolgorukov memoirs. Bahá'í teachings and history are consistently misrepresented, distorted, or falsified in this article. The article ends with: "to all other heavenly scriptures. These circumstances illustrate the foundation for the emergence and evolution of the Babi movement in Iran, followed by its migration to Iraq and other countries. This migration posed a significant challenge to the religious institution, necessitating an intellectual and doctrinal confrontation with Babism and Baha'ism. |
