abstract New religious movements approach Judaism in diverse ways – through demarcation, idealization, or appropriation. This study in religious studies focuses on interreligious communication processes concerning Judaism and the history of Jewish persecution, as well as the attribution of supposedly collective Jewish character traits. The integration of Jewish concepts into each movement's own system of meaning is also systematically examined.
The analysis explores how Anthroposophy, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Baháʼí Faith, the Mormons, and other communities – including those from the neopagan context – position themselves as sister religions or adversaries of Judaism, or even consider themselves Jewish.
notes Bahá'í Faith: pp. 385-415.
