abstract The paper examines Tahirih as a “liminal figure” , “… at once theologian and poet, revolutionary and mystic-–who straddled the boundaries of orthodoxy and heresy, tradition and reform, patriarchy and feminist resistance. Through her poetry, she created a transitory space in which old structures were dismantled and new possibilities imagined.”
