Abstract How do the simultaneously cognitive and emotional tasks of mothering and the creation of meaning shpae the host-country adaptation of immigrants? How does migration affect motherin? Through in-depth interviewing of ten 1.5-generation, Baha'i and Muslim Iranian-American immigrant mothers, interpreted within the context of extensive participant observation, this dissertation seeks to answer these questions.
