| Abstract | This research was a preliminary study to develop a reliable and valid measure of religious coping for Bahá’ís that takes into account the theological principals of the Bahá’í faith. Through the use of a panel of experts as well as an examination of existing religious coping measures, I developed a comprehensive religious coping scale that takes into account the theological principals of the Bahá’í faith. Using a sample of Bahá’í individuals in the United States (N=229), I then examined the reliability and validity of this Bahá’í religious coping scale. Results of the factor analyses of the Bahá’í Religious Coping Scale yielded three factors, “Seeking meaning & accepting God’s plan,” “Religious struggle,” and “Social support & consultation.” Results provided support for the reliability and validity of the Bahá’í Religious Coping Scale. |
