Abstract The dissertation “World Ethos and Bahá’u’lláh’s World Order (evaluation of two life models)” examines the vision of a peaceful world order of two religiously and ethically determined models. The first of them is the world ethos defined by the Swiss theologian Hans Küng. The second model is based on the Bahá’í Faith, a religion that originated in Iran in the mid-19th century.
The models under study represent a certain program for correcting the current conditions in human society, on a global scale. The dissertation examines the programmatics of both models,
tries to clarify the way in which their intentions and strategies are implemented, which lead to the realization of the vision of a peaceful world order. It notes the universality of humanitarian principles that both models derive from religion. Both models consider the category of “humana” with its inseparable connection to the “divine” as the normative criterion for corrective procedures. The first part of the dissertation describes the historical background of both models and the trajectory of the emergence of the vision of a new world order. The second part discusses normative statements with regard to the category of "humana". In the third part, the identified norms are examined with regard to their strategic use in realizing the vision of a peaceful world order. The determining strategy here is the method of dialogue supported by a change of mindset and subsequent, conscious responsibility for one's own actions. The thesis also wants to contribute to interreligious and intercultural dialogue and point out the possibilities of sharing common humanitarian values.
