Abstract Since the end of the 20th century, the topic of religiosity and spiritual self-determination in its various forms has become relevant again in the post-Soviet space. There are many studies on religions with a long history, dating back thousands of years, but there are not so many studies on young religions. Nevertheless, they occupy their own niche, influencing people's minds and hearts and determining their actions and thoughts. Among them is the Bahá'í faith, which has several million followers worldwide who take an active role in society.
There is still confusion about the mystical component of religion. This subject is not easy to study, and the concept itself is often used speculatively, without a rigorous scientific understanding. The mass consciousness actively revives and gives new meanings to this phenomenon. It exists both within traditional Russian confessions and small esoteric organizations. The topic of mysticism is therefore of particular importance, and interest in it is stable and deep. Consciously or not, it shapes the thinking of millions of people. Mysticism permeates and connects human feelings with their place in the universe, their destiny, and their search for the meaning of life.
The Baha 'í faith, which emerged in the mid-19th century and has always been considered a fairly rational religion in religious studies, has, in addition to its social orientation, a rich and beautiful body of mystical texts, its own view of the path of man to God, and the experience of personal communication with Him. An attempt to define the boundaries of the phenomenon of Baha 'í mysticism, or mysticism in the Bahá'í faith, thus proves to be a necessary step in the study of the various irrational motivations of modern man.
It should be noted that the topic of Bahá'í mysticism has not been studied in Russian religious studies. We have not been able to find a single Russian or Russian-language work on this topic. In Western religious studies, American, Italian, and German researchers have written on this topic Moojan Momen in his works "Mysticism and the Bahá'í Community," "The Psychology of Mysticism and Its Relationship to the Bahá'í Faith," Leroy Jones, "Knowledge, Confirmation, and the Mystical Heart: The Hidden Essence of the Divine Word," Giulio Saví in his work "The Bahá'í Faith and the Eternal Mystical Question: A Western Perspective," Kavian S. Milani in "The Mystical Dimensions of the Bahá'í Administrative Order," and a number of other authors. Overall, the topic can be described as understudied, and therefore even more worthy of attention.
The object of study is the Bahá'í faith as a religious tradition in the unity of its psychological and cultural aspects. The subject of study, which falls within the framework of interdisciplinary research, is mysticism in the Bahá'í faith. This work is based primarily on the texts of the religion itself and seeks to study the basic concepts, ideas, and directions of development of Bahá'í mysticism as a phenomenon. In this work, Baha 'í mysticism is considered both from the perspective of the ontological foundations of religion as a whole and as a holistic paradigm of thinking characteristic of the Bahá'í faith.
The aim of the work is to study the foundations and specifics of mysticism in the Bahá'í religion, for which several tasks were set:
1. To outline the cloud of concepts of mysticism and identify the main points that are important for the topic under study;
2. To determine the interrelationships between concepts of mysticism and neomysticism and occultism;
3. Identify the place of the mystical path in religion and the role of the mystical component in the Baha 'í faith;
4. Describe the main tenets of the Bahá'í religion and the religious-mystical context in which the religion itself arose
