Abstract	Babism or Babi Faith (May 24, 1844 - January 12, 1853) is a religion created by the Bab on May 24, 1844 in Iran. Bahá’ís consider the Bab to be a prophet-forerunner of the Bahá’í Faith. And the Bab and Baha'u'llah are revered as a double Epiphany for our time. This work is the first complex work on Babism, undertaken in the domestic science since the XIX century. It does not consider the individual components of Babism, but attempts, as far as the framework of one work allows, to investigate Babism as a holistic phenomenon. This dogma, which is an independent religious system, was founded in the first half of the nineteenth century. Sayyid 'Ali Muhammad Shirazi, known by the title of" Bab "(Gate). Babism is inextricably linked with the Bahá’í religion that originated from its soil. However, in this work the emphasis is on Babism itself. This paper contains an essay on Babism as an object of scientific study in Russia and Europe, reveals the historical context and religious and ideological prerequisites of its origin, the key points of its dogma, includes a review of sources, examines the main texts of Babism, their language, content, degree of study and accessibility taking into account the richest manuscript collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. A large block of photographs of the most valuable manuscripts from this collection is attached to the text. The publication was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The book was published in the series Religions of the World.
