| Abstract | The most effective way to observe the activities involving the cultural motivations of individuals and the changes in the worship of communities is to examine the structures that accommodate these functions from past to present. People go to different cities and even countries in order to research their own culture, observe the traditions of their ancestors and the environment and structures in which they live, and this activity gives rise to cultural heritage tourism and religious tourism. If an example of this situation is given; Today, Turkish citizens can visit the works of the Ottoman Empire that may or may not have survived in the Balkans. The city of Edirne, which is one of the first cities that come to mind when it comes to cultural heritage tourism in Turkey, contains cultural heritage elements in styles that meet the needs of different traditions (lineages or religions) as it has hosted people from many ethnic origins, religions and sects for centuries. The buildings where these differences are most clearly observed are by far the leading worship buildings. Therefore, the scope of this study consists of the worship structures of minorities in Edirne. In addition, due to their functions, religious buildings are essential elements of religious tourism as well as cultural heritage tourism. There is also diversity in the cultural heritage elements of cities rich in ethnic and religious diversity. Because more than one culture, which constitutes cultural heritage elements in these cities, has emerged over time. For example, the city of Edirne is a very ancient city that has hosted people from many different religions and sects throughout history, such as Paganism, Shamanism, Hermeticism (Edwards, 2015:272), Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the Baha'i faith. In this sense, cultural heritage and faith tourism elements also contribute to the process of examining the periodic layers of cities. It is possible to read these layers from historical maps. For example, the "Edirne Plan" (Bayatlı, Edirne Plan, 2019:13, 261) made by the Trakya Paşaeli Müdafaa-i Hukuk Cemiyeti is an important source showing the ethnic population distribution of Edirne in 1918. |
