| Abstract | "This work explores the significance of Jesus in the Baha'i faith from both a theological and didactic perspective, with the primary focus being on the theological aspects of Baha'iism. Christian points of view are also used as reference and distinguishing features, but the work does not aim at a comparison between the two theologies and the meaning of Jesus contained therein. The references to the Christian positions are aligned with the current theological standpoint of Catholic religious teaching, so that no extensive recourse to past theories and teaching content is made. From a theological point of view, the significance of Jesus in the Baha'i faith is an absolutely marginal issue. The low theological relevance is based primarily on the small number of Baha'i believers worldwide, out of eight million, of which only around 12,000 live in Germany. Because of this, the Baha'is have little relevance on both a social and denominational level. The Baha'i count themselves among the Abrahamic religions and, despite their small number, claim to be a world religion. The Baha'is make this claim by pointing out that although they have a significantly smaller number of followers compared to other world religions, they at the same time have an enormous geographical spread. The approximately eight million Baha'is live in over 100,000 places worldwide, meaning that the religious community is represented on all continents of the world and therefore has the highest geographical spread after Christianity. In addition, the faith community is made up of over 2,100 ethnic groups, so that the Baha'is declare themselves to be the faith community that has the highest level of human diversity." |
