Abstract	This collective monograph begins the series “Religion and the Body,” which is planned as a regular series, separately presenting the connections between man and social institutions, nature, society, religious private and collective ideas and worldviews, rituals and practices, urban and rural religiosity, global, migration, bioethical problems, etc., which involve both a person, with his individual experience of living, and religious institutions, with established theological ideas or those still in the process of formation.The topic of religion and sobriety as a modern social and religious phenomenon is important, even fundamental, related to the moral and ethical guidelines that represent religions, religious institutions and bearers of religious traditions in relation not only to alcohol and alcoholism as a form of addiction, but also in a broader sense: context - a sober, conscious, reflective attitude of a person to life in society and in relation to himself. This mode presupposes axiological and ontological approaches to the topic of sobriety, which unfold over time. The publication is addressed to a wide range of readers whose sphere of interest is the phenomenon of religion and its manifestation, primarily in the modern space of the Russian Federation, as well as other countries of the world.
