| Abstract | Human beings are physiologically and spiritually complex. But despite this, he also has some simple needs. One of these is the desire to believe in and connect to a being who is stronger than him when he feels helpless. This is when religion comes into play. The phenomenon of religion, which we can express as the experience of a sacred, is one of the basic building blocks of human spiritual and mental structure. However, since this experience may be different for each person, it requires a person who acts as a founder or mediator between the sacred and himself. However, this person must have a fundamental difference or extraordinary feature that can be distinguished from other people, which is where the miracle comes into play. Events that are considered impossible for any human being, that push the limits of reason, and that are contrary to the normal course of life are generally considered miracles. Miracles, which are usually performed by the founder of a religion, a prophet or a religious authority, are an important tool for people to believe or to reinforce their beliefs. For this reason, miracles are encountered in almost all forms of belief that have been subject to the history of religions. New Religious Movements, which emerged as a reaction against traditional beliefs and number in the thousands, have frequently used events that they claim to be miracles in order to demonstrate their legitimacy. The Bábis, who claimed that the Islamic Sharia was updated through the Báb, and the Bahá’ís, who took this discourse further and claimed that Bahá’ísm was the last religion sent by God through Bahá'u'lláh, used the events they described as miracles as evidence of the truth of their beliefs. In this study, the events that are accepted as miracles in the New Religious Movements and many religions that have been subject to the history of religions, in particular Bábism and Bahá’ísm, will be presented in a descriptive method without any analysis. |
