| Abstract | This paper examines surging public attention towards the Bahá'í Faith following the death of renowned Chinese soul singer and Bahá'í adherent Khalil Fong on March 1st 2025. However, fragmented and unsystematic information, combined with pre-existing cognition of Khalil Fong, led them to reinterpret Fong’s selected musical texts and life practices as cultural mediator to understand Bahá'í doctrines. While this process increased the religion's visibility in mainland China, it simultaneously resulted in the simplification and distortion of its teachings. This paper interprets how Khalil Fong served as an unintentional culture mediator, thereby constructing Chinese public perception of the Bahá'í faith. |
